I ask parents not to send their child if he/she has any of the following conditions;
Fever 101 or aboveVomiting Persistent cough
Oozing or undiagnosed rashesConjunctivitisExcessively runny nose
DiarrheaLice  Any contagious disease
If while at Sharon’ Serendipity, a child develops any of these conditions, his/her parents will be called to pick up their child. In the event the parents are not available, I will call the child’s emergency contacts. A child cannot return to the program unless he/she has been free of fever, diarrhea and vomiting for twenty-four hours. A child may not return until lice and their eggs have been removed. No child may return who has a highly contagious disease; a doctor’s note may be required. If a child is too ill to participate in the day’s activities, he/she is too ill to be at Sharon’s serendipity. These guidelines must be adhered to for the safety of the children, families and staff. No exceptions will be made. Parents are responsible for finding alternate care if needed.

For non-prescription medication, except topical medication, written permission is required once a week and must include dosage. Written permission is required once a year for topical medication. I cannot administer prescription medication without written order of a physician (which may include the label on the medication). The child’s name must be on the label along with the dosage and expiration date.
